Faculty members and staff of the Animal and Dairy Sciences Cluster (ADSC) won two standing awards and three best paper awards in the recently concluded joint 53rd Philippine Society of Animal Science (PSAS) Scientific Seminar and Annual Convention held at the Heritage Hotel, Pasay City, Metro Manila last October 20-21.
The project “Philippine Local Forages as Sustainable Feed Alternative for Dairy Cattle”, headed by Mr. Menandro M. Loresco and Ms. Joy B. Banayo as Project leader and Co-project leader, respectively, has recently been approved for funding from the USAID STRIDE RTI through its CARWIN Grant. The lead researchers are both from the Animal and Dairy Sciences Cluster (ADSC).
Faculty and graduate students from the Animal Nutrition Division participated in the 17th Asian-Australasian Association of Animal Production Societies (AAAP) Animal Science Congress held in Kyushu Sangyo University, Fukuoka, Japan last August 22 to 25, 2016.
Krystalene S. Decena, an MS Animal Science student under the supervision of Prof. Rommel Sulabo, was adjudged the Winner of the 2016 Evonik Nutrition and Care, Animal Nutrition University Program for her research project entitled “Effect of standardized ileal digestible amino acids in diets containing increasing levels of copra expellers on growth performance, diarrhea occurrence, and efficiency of nitrogen utilization in nursery pigs” held in Singapore last September 11 to 17, 2016.
